VLC is not only the most popular media player in the world but also filled with lots of hidden features known to a few people. Due to its user-friendly interface, people often have mistaken VLC for an ordinary media player, not knowing the great hidden features it comes with.
One such hidden features of VLC is to download YouTube videos and that’s what I will be walking you through in this article.
The first step is to open the YouTube video you intend to download and copy the video URL.
Now open the VLC player on your device, navigate to Media and select Open Capture Device.
This will open a new window. Click on the Network tab in the new window and paste the video URL into the space provided. After that, click the Play button.
The YouTube video will start playing on your VLC player. You can pause, stop or play the video with VLC controls. Now go to Tools and select Codec Information.
This will open a window called Current Media Information. Below it is the download link for the video, copy it.
Open your browser, paste the download link and hit Enter on your keyboard. This will show you the download dialog. Click on Save to download the video.
