Android devices sometimes tend to overheat when in use due to the numerous tasks they have to perform. Overheating can cause serious damage to your device that’s why it’s important to know how to prevent your Android phone from overheating.
So in this article, I will outline simple methods to help prevent your Android phone from overheating.
1. Use only original chargers to charge your phone’s battery
The main reason your Android phone overheats is due to the battery. That is why phone manufacturers always insist on the need to charge your phone’s battery with original chargers so as not to damage it.
A damaged battery will cause your phone to overheat so do well to avoid fake chargers.

2. Charge your phone properly
Most people do not know how to properly charge their phones. Using an original charger is not enough if you don’t know how to charge your phone properly.
Charging your phone properly means, don’t charge it for too long in the day. Try to keep it charged up to 70% or 80% during the day and full charge it at night.
3. Turn off your phone’s Bluetooth and GPS
Bluetooth and GPS should only be enabled when necessary. Leaving them on will not only drain your phone battery but will also cause your phone to overheat. So if you don’t have a need for your Bluetooth or GPS, turn them off.
4. Close unnecessary apps
Android phones are designed to perform lots of tasks simultaneously and that means you will have lots of apps running in the background. You can be listening to music, chatting, playing games and surfing the net at the same time.
All these tasks can overwhelm your phone and cause it to overheat. It is therefore advisable to check the apps running in the background and close the ones you’re not using.

5. Don’t use plastic or leather phone cases
Plastic and leather are insulators hence they make phones overheat by keeping the heat inside. So if you have a plastic or leather phone case, remove it and use your phone without it to check whether the problem persists.
6. Avoid using your phone for heavy gaming
There are so many games on Playstore for you to kill time with. Some of these great games require better processors and high RAM for better performance. As if not enough, some also need internet connection. A combination of high processor, high RAM, and data connection will only make your phone overheat.
So before you play any of such heavy games, make sure you close all unnecessary apps in the background so as to reduce the pressure on your processor and RAM and prevent overheating.
7. Give your phone a break
Sometimes you’re the one to blame when your phone overheats. We all know that smartphones are very powerful and can perform lots of tasks but they’re not designed to be used continuously like PCs or gaming consoles. But we end up using them more than our PCs.
Unlike PCs, phones do not have cooling systems to cool them down when they overheat due to constant use. So it’s better to give your phone a little break and allow it to cool.
These tips on how to prevent your Android phone from overheating, when applied will solve all your phone’s overheating problems. If you have other tips to prevent phones from overheating, share them with us in the comment section below.
