Privacy and security is something we are all concerned about in this era of advanced technology. Our smartphones are more or less an extension of our whole life. Giving your phone to someone is like giving them a part of your life and that means access to your private photos, videos, and files.
That could cause more harm than good especially when you have photos, videos or files you wouldn’t like to be made public or worse, get leaked.
Just as you keep some things to yourself and call them secrets, you can also hide those sensitive photos and videos you wouldn’t want anyone to see.
In this article, I will walk you through simple methods you can use to hide files, photos, and videos on your Android device.

This is the simplest method and one that I use all the time and it doesn’t require any third party apps.
First of all, open the File Manager app on your phone and create a new folder. You can use the default file manager on your phone or download one from the Playstore. I use the ES File Explorer. Move all the files, photos, and videos you want to hide into the new folder you just created.
Now go to settings on your file manager and enable the Show hidden files/folders option.
Go back to the new folder and rename it by adding a dot (.) before the original name. So for instance, if you named the folder ‘Hidden’, after renaming, it should look like ‘.Hidden’.
After that, go to the file manager settings and disable the Show hidden files/folders option. That hides your folder and its content.
If you want to ‘unhide’ them, just go to your file manager and enable the show hidden files/folders option.
This method requires the use of a third party app called File Hide Expert. This is a free app and can be downloaded from the Playstore.
Once you download and install the app, you’ll receive a message that shows your hidden file list is empty when you open the app. To add files to the hidden list, tap the folder icon in the top right corner.
You can hide any type of files you want. All you have to do is to check off the files you want to hide. Once that’s done, return to the app’s main menu.
On the main menu, tap Hide All to hide all the files you selected. To restore your hidden files, open the app and tap Restore All.
Anyone with access to your phone can just open the app and view your hidden files. So to make them fully secured, enable File Hide Expert password feature.
To do this, open the app and go to settings. Tap on the first option to enable the password feature and enter your desired password. You will be required to enter the password anytime you want to access your hidden files so make sure you pick a password you can easily remember.
