Uber has dropped its two-year-old logo for a new version that uses only the company’s name. This change came just two days after hiring its first Chief Marketing officer, former Coca-Cola executive Rebecca Messina. The Uber mobile app also got a makeover.
As if not enough, the company has also changed its mission statement “Make transportation as reliable as running water, everywhere, for everyone” to “We ignite opportunity by setting the world in motion.”

According to Uber, the logo change was influenced by the fact that, users were finding it difficult to connect the old logo to the company.
‘Uber Move’ is the name of the custom typeface used for the new Uber logo design. A custom typeface was used to prevent the company from paying licensing fees according to reports. Companies such as Google, Apple, and Netflix, have all adopted the custom typeface format.
